Coercive control is an insidious form of abuse where someone reportedly hurts, scares, or isolates another person in order to be them to their will. Both New South Wales and Queensland have passed laws to make coercive control a standalone criminal offence and South Australia has committed to doing the same. The Canberra Liberal says it is time for the ACT to follow suit, and while the territory government agrees more must be done to stop domestic violence, it says an education campaign is a higher priority.
