GranCabrio Folgore was introduced with its striking design as well as its three-motor powertrain producing up to 818 hp.
The electric Convertible features a three-motor powertrain that produces up to 818 hp and 996 lb-ft of torque.
Marketing hype aside, the model follows in the footsteps of its internal combustion engine counterpart but adopts an aerodynamically optimized design. As part of the facelift, the car was fitted with a new front bumper and a revised grille. Buyers will also find staggered 20- and 21-inch wheels that can be equipped with low rolling resistance tires.
The real highlight is the electrically retractable soft top, which can be lowered in 14 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph). The roof will be available in five colors (Nero, Blue Marine, Titan Grey, Greige and Granata) and customers can order an optional wind stopper to help minimize the impact of wind.
Speaking of the cabin, it offers a high-tech feel thanks to the 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment system and 8.8-inch comfort screen. These are accompanied by a heated, flat-bottom steering wheel with brushed aluminum paddle shifters. Other highlights include a standard neck warmer, a Sonus faber audio system, and a digital watch that offers three different views, as well as accelerator, compass, G-force meter, and stopwatch displays.
The interior can be extensively customized and fitted with sustainable materials such as Econyl. It's a "regenerated nylon" material made from things like recycled fishing nets and carpets.
Motivation is provided by a 92.5 kWh battery pack that feeds the tri-motor drivetrain. The latter combines a front-mounted electric motor with two rear-mounted motors.
This setup gives the vehicle all-wheel drive, rear torque vectoring and a total torque output of 818 hp (610 kW / 829 PS) and 996 lb-ft (1,350 Nm). Thanks to its impressive output, the GranCabrio can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph). More importantly, the model is planned to have a WLTP range of 260 to 278 miles (419 to 447 km).
When it's time to recharge, owners will be grateful for the 270 kW DC fast charging capability, which allows the car to reach a range of up to 100 km in as little as five minutes. If you're not in a hurry, the battery can charge 20-80% in as little as 18 minutes.
Owners will find four different driving modes known as GT, Sport, Corsa and Max Range. Most are self-explanatory, but GT is the default mode and offers a traditional grant driving experience. Corsa, on the other hand, is the extreme and reveals the full power of electric motors.
It looks like the GranCabrio Folgore will be coming to the United States next year, and it'll cost quite a bit, with the ICE-powered model starting at $203,000.
