Gudi Padwa, also known as Gudhi Padva, is a Hindu festival celebrated especially in Maharashtra. As per the lunisolar calendar, the auspicious occasion marks the beginning of the traditional Hindu New Year. Gudi Padwa is celebrated as Ugadi by the people of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The festival is celebrated as Samvatsar Padvo by the Konkanis. On this occasion, people start new ventures, buy new clothes, clean their homes & make resolutions for the year ahead.
