The Honda CB650R has been updated in 2024 to become one of the most innovative motorcycles on the scene by introducing E-Clutch as an option, a new electronically operated clutch system that takes the riding experience to another level. .

Price of Honda CB650R: € 9,100

The 2024 Honda CB650R is one of the most innovative motorcycles of the season, as it is the first motorcycle that will have the possibility of installing E-Clutch, along with its sibling CBR650R. This is an electronic clutch actuation system that can be added as a factory extra. It includes features similar to a traditional manual clutch, the well-known quick-shift system and even the well-known DCT dual clutch, which takes the user to a new driving experience and allows the pilot not to use the clutch lever up or down. Something similar to what we do when shifting gears. You just need to apply the maneuver to the pedal and the change is made quickly and powerfully. The system, which is quite compact and adds only 2 kg of weight to the hitch, also allows you to avoid having to use the clutch lever when starting or stopping the vehicle, so there is no possibility of stalling.

The system can be disconnected (button on the left pineapple) and you can use the handle in the traditional way (an M lights up on the instrument panel). Additionally, when you use the lever, the system is reactivated after less than 1 second at certain speeds or after 5 seconds at low speeds.

The Honda E-Clutch system can be configured with three levels of shift pedal firmness: HARD, MEDIUM and SOFT, which can be selected independently for up and down gears. The system includes a light warning on the panel to warn about the convenience of downshifting when driving in too high a gear.

Let's continue with the not-so-new things about the 2024 Honda CB650R. The engine is the same 649 cc, DOHC, 16-valve, inline four-cylinder as the previous model. It produces 70 kW (95 hp) at a maximum of 12,000 rpm, which can be limited for the A2 licence. It also claims 63 Nm at 9,500 rpm. It has a 6-speed transmission and anti-kickback clutch. It also has a consumption of 20.4 km/l with a 15.4 l tank, which means a range of more than 300 km.

As for electronic aids, there's a disconnectable HSTC selectable torque control that prevents loss of rear-wheel traction during acceleration phases.

On the bicycle part, we need to talk about the steel diamond chassis. It has quality suspension with an adjustable 41 mm Showa SFF-BP inverted split-function fork. At the rear we find a monoshock absorber adjustable at 10 preload points, resting directly on the aluminum swingarm. As for the brakes, there are a pair of 310mm discs with 4-piston radial calipers at the front and 240mm discs with single-piston calipers at the rear. The total weight of the naked person is 205 kg, 207 kg if the E-Clutch is added.
