'Life Goes On" is from American pop/country singer LeAnn Rimes' seventh studio album "Twisted Angel", released 1 October, 2002 on Curb Records. This album caused much controversy among fans of Rimes at the time of release due to it's strong pop music flavor, which many fans felt was an abandonment of her previous country music style and in reality it was. This album sounds like her attempt to redefine herself as an artist and in some ways it works, while in other ways it doesn't. By alienating her country fans, she has lost a considerable base and by trying to break into a crowded pop field where musical styles change overnight, she risked not finding a loyal audience for her new style. Although critical reviews were not kind, the album was popular and "Twisted Angel" became Rimes' second RIAA Gold certified certified album as well as going Gold in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The album peaked at #12 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and #3 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, while reaching #14 on the UK Albums chart.
"Life Goes On" was the first single released from "Twisted Angel" and was not a major hit on the U.S. charts, although it did rise to #9 on the Adult Contemporary chart. It was a bigger hit outside the U.S., reaching top ten and top twenty status in several overseas markets.
"Life Goes On" was written by Desmond Child, Andreas Carlsson and LeAnn Rimes and released on 26 August 2002 on Curb.
The music video was filmed in New Orleans, Louisiana and like the album and song generated controversy and criticism, this time for LeAnn's sexy attire, dance moves and, for her country fans, the wholehearted pop sound and look of the video. Still, i think it's great that LeAnn chose to reinvent herself and take some chances on a new image, plus the video is "smokin' hot", to say the least.
