The founder of research and consulting company Digiconomist Alex de Vries spoke to CGTN Europe. He said in the coming years the combined trends in AI-related electricity consumption, digital currency mining and also likely growth in regular data centres hardware energy consumptions will lead to data centres consuming 3-4% of total global electricity consumption.
