A man and a woman have both been arrested following the "unexplained" death of a six-month-old baby boy.
Emergency services were called after the tragic tot suffered a 'medical emergency' at a block of flats in Caldmore, Walsall, West Mids, on Monday morning (5/2).
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the youngster was pronounced dead at the scene at Orlando House on Barleyfield Row.
Two people, a 42-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, were arrested in connection to the baby's death.
The pair have both been bailed with "strict conditions" while the investigation continues.
The exact cause of death of the child is yet to be determined and a post-mortem will take place in due course.
A 24-hour police presence has remained outside the block of flats since the tragedy occurred.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Police are investigating the unexplained death of a six-month-old baby boy who was found at a Walsall home on Monday 5 February after police were called to the address.
"Two people – a 42-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman – were arrested in connection with the baby’s death.
"They have been bailed with strict conditions. A post-mortem will take place in due course to determine the exact cause of death.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called by police to a medical emergency at an address on Barleyfield Row in Walsall at around 11.40am on Monday.
"Two ambulances and two paramedic officers were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a child.
"Sadly, it quickly became clear he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene."
