The Alternate Gold Commander for Carnival, a senior police officer, says that built into the State's Carnival 2024 security and safety plan "is a contingency that captures sufficient numbers of officers in the remote eventuality that there is some level of absenteeism" by police officers.
However, the Assistant Police Commissioner said that he wanted to debunk the myth that police officers who are yet to receive their back pay will not turn up for duty for Carnival.
