The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists kept the Doomsday Clock at 90 seconds to midnight, the closest it has ever been to symbolic "Doomsday." They cited growing risks of nuclear war through miscalculation or accident, the war in Ukraine, lack of climate action and risks from new technologies. The Doomsday Clock was created in 1947 by J. Robert Oppenheimer and colleagues, serving as a symbol urging the avoidance of nuclear conflict. Its hands have shifted 25 times since its inception.
