Kylian Lauret's Fatal Crash @ Réunion 2019 (Aftermath)

The Rallye National des 1000 Km de la Réunion held on 31 November - 01 December 2019, was stopped on its last special stage following a fatal accident which took the life of eight-year-old spectator Kylian Lauret.

On Sunday, 01 December 2019, Kylian and his father attended the ninth special stage "Notre Dame de la Paix-2" and walked up to the timing point of the tenth and last special stage "Bassin Martin-2". At the same moment the #23 Citroën DS3 R3T of Pierre Tadeus-Mickaël Tadeus which crossed the finish line at full speed, suddenly went out of control while braking. The car left the road, rolled over and hit father and son who walked near the edge of the road.

Kylian Lauret was struck by a bumper from the car. Firefighters and emergency workers who quickly arrived to the place of the accident could do nothing to save his life. After hitting the boy, the Citroën crashed into an electric pole and ended in a field.

The rally was stopped after the accident. Driver Pierre Tadeus was interrogated by gendarmes the same day.
