Luis Rovira y su orquesta - Un sueño fue

This lovely tune is an excerpt from a totally forgotten Spanish musical movie, directed in 1941 by Ramón Quadreny, featuring Josita Hernán, Rafael Durán and Marta Flores in the leading parts. This is surprising as the subject enjoyed a certain popularity, since it apparently is a remake of "El 13.000" aka "El Trece Mil" from 1920. It is a melodramatic plot about a modest lottery sales girl being torn apart between her beloved and her stepfamily, constantly humiliating her. As for Luis Rovira, he was a popular Spanish jazz clarininetist and bandleader who led several dance and jazz orchestras in the 1930's and 1940's, extensively touring in his homeland and Latin-America. This record, possibly with Rafael Durán on vocal was made the same year of the film. It should be noted that this selection is slightly more recent than what I usually post. This, unfortunately, is due to the war circumstances in Spain during 1936-39, when the Civil War practically paralized cultural life. For my English-speaking viewers: the subject of the song is The Eternal Theme of Love, telling about great expectations of an eternal honeymoon in Spring, which sadly turned out to be a lost dream.
