A woman says she's still in the "honeymoon phase" four years into marriage after attracting a "high calibre" man when she stopped waiting around.
Janelle Lynnae, 31, had been unlucky in love until she met Frankie Vignone, 32, through Instagram and hit it off.
Sparks flew and Frankie, who works in tech sales, proposed after just six months of dating.
They tied the knot just six months later in August 2019 and now, after celebrating four years of marriage, say they still feel happier than ever.
Janelle and Frankie vowed on the wedding day to stay in the “honeymoon phase forever” and say they've achieved this by always acknowledging each other when they walk in the door and dressing up for date night.
Janelle, a confidence coach, from San Diego, California, US, said: “In our wedding vows we vowed to stay in the honeymoon phase forever.
“Having great openness of communication is how we maintain that honeymoon phase. It does take effort.
“We’re two big kids together – giggling and laughing.
“People think we must be newlyweds.”
Janelle was introduced to Frankie by a mutual friend - who sent a link to his Instagram in early 2018.
Frankie and Janelle chatted back and forth before she invited him to her birthday party in April 2018 – but they were both each dating other people at the time.
Janelle said: “We hit it off.”
In August 2018, Frankie, who was then single, visited San Diego for a business trip and the pair went for a workout together, followed by burritos.
Janelle, who was no longer in a relationship said: “You could tell there was something there.
“We kissed at the end of the night.”
Frankie had to go back home to Colorado but the couple started dating and even picked out an engagement ring in November 2018 - just three months into their romance.
Frankie officially proposed in February 2019, and the couple tied the knot in August of the same year and now live in San Diego together.
Janelle said she had a feeling in her gut that Frankie was the right man for her.
She said: “I felt peace. I felt safe.
“There wasn’t anything creating low level anxiety.
“We tell people marriage is the best personal development you’ll ever find.”
Janelle said people often mistake the couple for newlyweds on their honeymoon and reveals how they keep their love alive.
They say they communicate all the time.
She said: “We take the feedback well.
“I always think ‘you love me, you want the best for me’.
“We all have blind spots in our life.”
The couple will also always make sure they greet each other properly after a day of work.
Janelle said: “We always acknowledge each other’s presence.
“I’ll get up and give him a kiss.
“That’s a habit that we do.”
Janelle and Frankie also try to finish work at around 5 or 6pm so they can have the evenings to spend time with each other.
Janelle said: “We’re both very driven people.
“We’re both very excited about our careers.
“It can be really easy to constantly talk about work and our dreams.
