Emmy-winning actor, Andre Braugher has died aged 61.
Braugher died after a brief illness on Monday, his publicist confirmed.
Braugher was best known for his lead roles in gritty drama, “Homocide: Life on The Street” and modern comedy “Brooklyn 99”.
The Chicago-born actor had established himself in the role of Det. Frank Pembleton, the lead role on “Homicide: Life on The Streets”, a dark police drama.
The show ran for seven seasons on NBC.
It led to Braugher winning his first career Emmy for the role, taking the trophy for lead actor in a drama series in 1998.
