A bride got matching lip tattoos with her bridesmaid's on her bachelorette weekend - and kept it a secret until the wedding.
Taylor Downs, 28, says she “loves” it and doesn’t “regret it” the inking she got with her ten pals.
They agreed to get the tattoo - of the word ‘yeehaw’ - to commemorate their wekend in Nashville, Tennessee.
Taylor joked about it - and was surprised when they all agreed.
Eight got it on the inside of their bottom lip, one on their bum and another on their foot.
Taylor told now-husband Jacob Downs, 24, about the inking when she got home.
But the group all revealed their matching tats at Taylor’s wedding, during the maid of honour speech – and say everyone was “surprised”.
Taylor, from Lakeland, Florida, who is studying for her masters in counselling, said: “We told the story and revealed them at the wedding.
“Everyone thought it was a great surprise.
“I really do love my tattoo. All the bridesmaids were really excited.
“No one regrets it.
“Most days I forget that I even have it.”
Taylor and Jacob, a senior project manager, met at Southeastern University, Lakeland, Florida in 2018 and started dating in September 2019.
Jacob proposed in October 2021 and Taylor jetted off to Nashville, Tennessee for her bachelorette party weekend in March 2022.
The weekend was organised by sisters – Landrey Vickery, 24, and Kyla Moore, 22 – and the bridesmaids and Taylor enjoyed pole dancing and a party bus.
On the morning of the Sunday, before their flights home, Taylor suggested the idea for tattoos.
She said: “It was my suggestion.
“It started as a joke. I said ‘wouldn’t it be funny if we all got tattoos somewhere?’
“We were in Nashville so I thought ‘yeehaw’ would be fun.
“They all said ‘let’s actually do it’.
“I’m spontaneous and down for anything.”
The bridal troop found a random artist in Nashville who was available last minute and they all spent $80 each getting the matching ink.
Taylor said: “It really wasn’t too painful.
“It felt like you’re biting your lip or cheek. A little pinch.”
Taylor said all the bridesmaids loved the tattoos and they all decided to keep them a surprise until the wedding.
But Taylor surprised Jacob when she got home.
She said: “He was asking me how my trip was.
“I asked him to kiss me on the cheek and then I planned to pretend to bite my lip and revealed the tattoo.
“He thought it was as cool as I did.”
Taylor and Jacob tied the knot in June 2022 and all the bridesmaids showed off their tattoos during the speeches.
Taylor said: “My sisters said I was a really influential person and I was able to get people to do something. They told us all to reveal what we all got together.
“We all stood up and showed our tattoos.
“Everyone was just surprised.
“My parents thought it was funny. My granddad rolled his eyes.”
Taylor said she forgets she has the tattoo most days and still “loves” it.
She said: “It was a great experience.
“It fits my spontaneous and carefree personality.”
