La Salle coach wins championship on rookie year
On his fourth try, Topex Robinson is finally a champion coach in the collegiate level after La Salle defeated UP, 73-69, in the decider of the UAAP Season 86 men's basketball Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023. He failed to win it with the San Sebastian Stas in 2011 and Lyceum in 2017 and 2018 in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). He joined Franz Pumaren in 1998, Juno Sauler in 2013 and Aldin Ayo in 2016 as the Green Archers' coaches who led their teams to the title in their rookie years.
