Kenny Stevenson's Fatal Crash @ Nassau-Paradise Island @ 1983

During the Bahamas Grand Prix, held on Sunday, 11 December 1983 in the boat course between Nassau and Paradise Island, Bahamas, Kenny Stevenson's catamaran powerboat flipped and cartwheeled while he was leading the race. Stevenson was thrown from the boat and killed. The race was a round of the 1983 UIM Formula 2 Powerboat Championship.

Kenny Stevenson, a 36 year-old powerboat racing champion from Mentor, Ohio, was leading the third heat when his boat became airborne. He was a well known and experienced boat driver, in 1982 he had his debut in the UIM Formula 1 Powerboat Championship, scoring a 5th place at Minneapolis and a 6th place in the London Grand Prix.

Winner of the Bahamas Grand Prix was John Mills, 1982 Formula 2 vice-champion.
