Monsters vs. Aliens (also known as Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D) is an upcoming 2009 computer-animated 3-D feature film from DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures. This will be the first computer animated movie which will be produced in real 3-D instead of converting the film into 3-D after it is finished, which will add $15 million extra to the film's budget.[2].
The film was scheduled for a May 2009 release, but it was moved it to March 27, 2009, so as to prevent competition with James Cameron's upcoming Avatar.
Plot
When California resident Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon) of Modesto, California (a medium-sized city 100 miles East of San Francisco) grows to 49 ft 11 in (because of being hit by a meteor while being late for her wedding), she is labelled a monster and captured by the military. She is remanded to an institution that houses other monsters: Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D., an insect-headed mad scientist (Hugh Laurie), the Missing Link, a 20,000-year-old fish-man (Will Arnett), B.O.B., a gelatin-like, jolly, indestructible monster (Seth Rogen) and Insectosaurus, a fuzzy bug that stands at 350 feet tall, making even Susan look tiny by comparison. When a UFO lands and an alien overlord named Gallaxhar (Rainn Wilson) demands that Earth be given to them, General W.R. Monger (Kiefer Sutherland) suggests to the President (Stephen Colbert) that the monsters can provide the firepower to defeat the aliens.
Video game
A video game is known to be coming out by March 2009. It will be the last Dreamworks film video game made by Activision, though the Nintendo DS version will be published by Amaze Entertainment. It is due for release on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, Wii and PlayStation Portable. The game allows fans to play through scenes from the movie as The Missing Link, B.O.B., and Susan/Ginormica and features drop-in/out co-op. Music was composed by Jim Dooley, with live brass recorded at the Warner Brothers Eastwood Scoring Stage.(Xbox 360).
