Pope sparks controversy in meetings with Israeli hostages, Gaza Palestinians
Pope Francis sparks controversy by using terms like ‘terrorism’ and ‘genocide’ during separate meetings with Israeli hostage relatives in Gaza and Palestinians affected by the war. Despite the Israeli-Hamas hostage deal and a temporary ceasefire, Pope Francis did not mention them, and the meetings were arranged before these developments. The Pope met with 12 relatives of the hostages and, separately, with 10 Palestinians affected by the conflict, along with local priests, at the Vatican.
