Unification church in Japan allocates $66M compensation fund
The Japanese branch of the Unification Church intends to create a 10 billion yen ($67 million) fund to compensate individuals claiming harm from the group's manipulative fund-raising tactics. This move aims to dispel concerns of asset concealment during a pending government-requested dissolution order. The announcement follows Japan's Education Ministry's request to revoke the group's legal status a month ago.
