The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has taken action on a resident's plea, seeking a response regarding the eviction of illegal immigrants in Pakistan. The plea was filed by an Afghan family residing in Jhelum, who contested an eviction notice issued by the Ministry of Interior.
Justice Amir Farooq of the IHC heard the petition, which raised concerns about the selective eviction of only those foreigners who were staying in the country illegally. The petitioner, holding Migrant Cards along with their spouse, highlighted that their three children were attending school. Despite efforts to address the issue in relevant forums, the petitioner's plea remained unaddressed
The petitioner's lawyer requested the court's intervention to halt harassment by concerned institutions and ensure a fair hearing before any drastic actions were taken. In response, the court has issued a notice to the parties involved and requested their responses.
The hearing has been adjourned, indicating that the case will continue to unfold in the Islamabad High Court.
