Pope's meeting urges women's governance roles in church
A recent Catholic gathering led by Pope Francis advocated greater women's involvement in church governance and research on women as deacons. However, it avoided taking clear actions on these topics and refrained from addressing LGBTQ+ Catholic inclusion. The meeting concluded with a non-binding 42-page text to be considered in a follow-up session next year, with proposals concerning women and priestly celibacy facing significant opposition.
