Young Venezuelan karting driver Jerry Alberto Morales Fernández, 14, lost his life during an exhibition race on the streets of La Concepción, in the province of Zulia, Venezuela, on Sunday, 02 April 2023.
The event was organized by Bot Karting Association and sponsored by the Mayor's Office of the Municipality of Jesús Enrique Lossada. During the competition Morales lost control of his blue and yellow kart #129, which went off the track and crashed into an electric pole. He was thrown out of the vehicle as it rolled over. He was transported to a private hospital in Maracaibo, where he succumbed from his injuries.
The event was stopped following Jerry Morales' fatal crash. According to unconfirmed sources, the accident was caused by mechanical failure.
