Memorial Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. The first Prime minister of Malaysia.
Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Memorial is a fitting shrine to "Tunku" the architect of Malaysian independence. The extensive exhibition rooms contain all manner of memorabilia, photographs etc. connected with the life of Tunku and detailed information about the movement he led to achieving independence in 1957.There is so much to take in that one visit is not really sufficient.
If the museum is not enough attached is the wonderfully preserved colonial residence in which you're freely allowed to wander around. You can enter the bedrooms including Tunku's; the dining room laid for dinner; lounges etc. Much of the original furniture and ornaments from the period have been left as they were in the rooms so the residence is highly evocative of the period. The large house was the official residence of the British Governor from the 1890s up to the late 1940s and was later lived in by Tunku as Malaysia's first prime minister after independence.
This (together with the Negara Bank Gallery opposite) make a good day out and deserves top billing as an attraction. Free entrance.
