On Tuesday night, the police forcibly removed TMC leaders from Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi, where they were conducting a sit-in protest. This protest ensued after Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, declined to meet with more than five members of the TMC delegation, even though the delegation comprised over 30 individuals. The primary objective of the TMC delegation's visit was to request the minister's assistance in settling the outstanding payments of MGNREGA workers in West Bengal, which had been pending for nearly two years.

Police forcibly evacuated the delegation, which was led by TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, using two buses. Sources reported that the police transported them to Mukherjee Nagar. Subsequently, TMC MP Mahua Moitra tweeted that the MPs were being held at Kingsway camp.

However, the police later released the delegation. During the forced removal, Mahua Moitra raised her voice from the bus, asserting that the delegation had been mistreated and forcibly removed from the ministry while they were awaiting an audience with the minister. She later shared a video on social media depicting female police officers forcibly lifting her from the ground and escorting her away.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reacted to the incident by describing it as a ""day of darkness and secrecy for democracy."" She accused the BJP of demonstrating disrespect for the people of Bengal, neglecting the rights of the less fortunate, and completely forsaking democratic principles.
