‘Harry Potter’ actor Sir Michael Gambon dead at 82

Sir Michael Gambon has died. He was 82.
The actor’s family confirmed that he died peacefully in the hospital.
“We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia,” the statement read, via The Guardian.
“We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.”
Gambon’s career spanned 60 years, with some of his best known roles including “The Singing Detective,” “Gosford Park” and playing Albus Dumbledore in the “Harry Potter” movie franchise. He took over as the headmaster of Hogwarts in the second film, “Chamber of Secrets,” following the death of original actor, Richard Harris. (Harris died at age 72 in 2002.)
