Smog from Taal volcano blankets Metro Manila
Thick smog/vog covers the Metro Manila skyline as seen from Antipolo City on Friday, Sept. 22 2023. The smog, caused by sulfur dioxide emissions from Taal Volcano, forced the suspension of classes in most of Metro Manila and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon). The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said, however, that Taal remained under Alert Level 1.
