Do you remember seeing that list of most bike friendly cities in the world? I was super excited to check out the list of cities and I was convinced that Valencia in Spain would rank pretty high.
Valencia didn't rank AT ALL!!! Which I couldn't believe! Valencia, especially, during the recent years has been working hard on the biking infrastructure, which can be noticed through the entire city. The entire historic center is circled by a bike path, then there're plenty of paths going in and out of the center. Most of these bike paths are fully separated from the car traffic! This is making it very safe and did I mention that Valencia is almost entirely flat!
Oh and one amazing thing about biking in Valencia, the old Turia Riverbed, which is now turned into a 7km long park! It's lined on both sides with bike paths and it's beautiful to bike through. There is where I was recording this video.
Doesn't it sound like a perfect city for biking and should be ranked high up on bike friendly city lists? After doing some research, that list which was making the rounds requires cities to pay to get listed!!!! That's why!
