The UAW president called GM's latest contract proposal an "insulting proposal," saying it does not come close to an equitable agreement for auto workers. GM's proposal includes a $5,500 ratification bonus for all employees and making Juneteenth a paid holiday. It also offers a 10% wage increase for most employees. The UAW president said GM has refused to bargain in good faith for 6 weeks and only came to the table after the UAW filed unfair labor practice charges against them. He urged GM to stop wasting the union members' time and said they need economic justice by the Sept 14th deadline when the contract expires.
