warned that Hurricane Lee is expected to
"rapidly intensify" in the Atlantic ocean. .
Lee was upgraded from a tropical storm to

According to the National Hurricane Center,
the storm system will likely become an
"extremely dangerous major hurricane" by September 8. .
As of early September 7, the storm was
about 965 miles east of the northern Leeward
Islands, according to the National Weather Service. .
The public advisory warned
of sustained winds up
to 80 miles per hour. .
NBC reports that once Lee is upgraded to
a Category 4 hurricane, it has the potential
to bring wind gusts up to 155 miles per hour.

direct threat of landfall, the storm is expected to create large
