Angry Thai students protested last night over the country's recent sham election which saw the winner blocked from becoming Prime Minister and threatened with jail.Footage shows the youngsters at the Sanya Dharmasakti Monument in front of the Faculty of Law at Thammasat University on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand, on July 26. They are calling for the 250 military-controlled senators to allow the poll winner Pita Limjaroenrat to take office.Locals say they have been disenfranchised following the military's move to block election winner Pita of the liberal progressive Move Forward Party from becoming Prime Minister. In a double-whammy to any hopes of democracy developing in Siam, Pita has also been suspended and faces up to 10 years in jail and a 20-year ban from politics over shares held by his late father in an inactive media company.Establishment figures who retain control of the country said Pita's plan to water down Lese Majeste laws was a 'threat to national security'.
