In this program, naturalist David Attenborough goes on a 500-million-year journey to track the rise of the vertebrates, which he considers one of the greatest stories in natural history. Attenborough uses recently uncovered fossil evidence from China, a region he has wanted to explore for a long time, to trace the evolution of animals with backbones. The fossils, combined with computer graphics and cinematography, tell the story of how humans are the heirs to a magnificent evolutionary heritage.
Ep 1: From the Seas to the Skies
David Attenborough uses fossil evidence and CGI to reveal the story of the vertebrates, from their humble origins as the primitive fish that once swam in ancient seas, to their radical move onto land and beyond.
