Birmingham headlines 14 July: Footage shows arrest of gun supplier in Smethwick
This dramatic footage shows the moment a gun supplier was arrested by armed police who found him converting blank-firing pistols into deadly firearms from his bedroom. Alireza Nowbakht was detained at his property in Smethwick in December. Nowbakht was jailed for five years.
Next - A driver who failed to stop at the scene of a crash in which a pedestrian died, has been sentenced. The investigation revealed that Nishaben Mistry would have only had one second to react to the pedestrian and that there was no evidence to support any sort of careless or dangerous driving. She was sentenced to seventeen weeks custody, suspended for two years.
Last - A new bar is opening at the Bullring in Birmingham as part expansion to one of the Bullring's top brands and it comes with another popular shop's plans to get bigger. Luxury jewellery retailer Goldsmiths and fashion streetwear and sportswear brand Footasylum are both set for an upgrade.
