A scorching spell of weather is currently engulfing portions of southern Europe and north-west Africa, carrying the potential for unprecedented temperatures in the forthcoming days. With health experts issuing warnings to travellers and with advice to stay safe.

Anticipated temperatures are set to exceed 40C (104F) in selected areas of Spain, France, Greece, Croatia, and Turkey.

Italy, on the other hand, may encounter soaring temperatures as high as 48.8C. A red alert cautionary message has been proclaimed for 10 major cities.
