Last year Malaria killed more than 600-thousand people globally with a large proportion of those under the age of 5. Africa carried nearly all the burden home to 96 per cent of those deaths. In response the world health organisation has allocated 18 million doses of the first-ever malaria vaccine to 12 African nations.
