Tornado leaves trail of devastation through central Alberta July 3, 2023

In tonight’s top story: A powerful tornado ripped through small town Alberta on Saturday, destroying homes and killing animals along its route. Farmers and residents of the Mountain View County, just south of Didsbury were left devastated by the tornado’s path of destruction. Carolyn Kury de Castillo reports.

Also, an attempted murder investigation has been launched following attacks on the home of a suburban mayor in France. The violence against mayor Vincent Jeanbrun and his family came in the midst of riots across France, triggered by the police shooting of a 17-year-old teenager on June 27. Redmond Shannon has the latest.

Additionally, more than 7,000 port workers in B.C. continued their strike for a second day on Sunday, threatening Canada’s supply chain. Pressure is mounting on the federal government to be more assertive in putting an end to the strike. David Akin reports.
