After encountering stiff Russian resistance to their initial ground assault, Kyiv has largely held off its offensive, according to reports. Ukraine is now reportedly making targeted strikes, trying to soften Russian defences for the next attack. Ukrainian forces are using long-range Western weapons to hit Russian supply lines deep in occupied territory. Kyiv’s troops are holding back Western tanks and other armour touted to give them an edge in the counteroffensive. Ukraine has reportedly lost 16 US-supplied Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and several German Leopard tanks in the offensive. Last week, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that the counteroffensive has been "slower than desired". Zelensky has also been quoted as saying that Kyiv wished to show results before a July 11 NATO gathering in Lithuania.
