A Canadian aircraft searching for a missing submersible in the Atlantic Ocean has detected intermittent "banging" noises from the vicinity of its last known location. The Titan submersible, carrying five divers, disappeared Sunday morning while traveling to the Titanic wreckage site. The crew searching for the sub heard banging sounds every 30 minutes on Tuesday, and again four hours later, after additional sonar devices were deployed. The sub is equipped with four days' worth of emergency oxygen supply, and it is estimated that the five missing passengers have less than 24 hours of oxygen left. The US and Canadian coast guards are involved in rescue efforts.
