Watch as rescuer battles huge waves to save stranded dog who fell 90m off cliff

U.S. coast guards have rescued a pet German Shepherd that fell 300ft down a cliff in Oregon on Wednesday.Officers from the Air Station Astoria were notified at around 7 pm about the injured canine spotted limping along a rocky beach in Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach on June 14. The area was secluded and only accessible by air or rappelling down a hiking trail, authorities said.Footage taken by Petty Officer 2nd Class Diolanda Caballero shows how the rescue crew descended from an aircraft off the shore and swam towards the frightened canine standing on the craggy rocks.The pooch was comforted by an officer before being hoisted into the air. It was safely reunited with its owner. In a statement, the US Coast Guard Pacific Northwest said: 'At around 7 p.m., Sector Columbia River received an agency assist request from Cannon Beach Fire Department for a German Shepard who fell 300ft down a cliff to a remote section of the beach. This part of the beach is only accessible by repelling down from a hiking trail.'An Air Station Astoria MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew was tasked to respond. At around 8:20 p.m., the crew arrived and were able to hoist the dog to the owner at the Ecola State Park parking lot.'After a visit to the emergency vet, the dog's owner reports that his pup is doing just fine! Thanks to the work of our great first responders in Astoria and Cannon Beach!'
