Nearly 74,000 people have been shifted to safer locations in Gujarat as Cyclone Biparjoy is expected to make landfall on June 15. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued in many districts of Gujarat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the cyclone will have a maximum wind speed of up to 140-150 kmph. Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka and Jamnagar will receive extremely heavy rainfall, IMD said. Many MDRF and SDRF teams have been stationed at various locations. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted he has spoken to all the three service chiefs. IMD said the cyclone is likely to move northeastwards and cross Saurashtra and Kutch & adjoining Pakistan coasts.
