Unveiled Before Competing at Le Mans in 2024, New Ford Mustang GT3 2024
It starts with the Mustang Dark Horse and adds modifications to go racing.
FIA GT3 racing class regulations allow modifying a sports car to take it to the race. Now, the Ford Mustang GT3 makes its debut at Le Mans before competing in the famous 24-hour race in 2024.
The Mustang GT3 uses the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse as its starting point. The body has a more pronounced front splitter and canards at the corners. Additional lights are located on the outside of the grille. The hood wins a double big break.
There are extended fenders at both ends. The front ones have a set of cutouts for better airflow. There is an entrance on either side of the back. Exhaust exits just in front of each rear wheel.
A large, swan-neck-mounted wing attaches to a high point of the hatchback. The lower section contains a massive diffuser.
The Mustang GT3 displays a colorful appearance consisting of orange, blue, purple and red. The car also carries the new Ford Performance logo with a round "FP" emblem.
Ford partnered with M-Sport to create the Coyote-based 5.4-liter V8 engine. The included images show that it has a carbon fiber inlet.
Compared to the road-going Mustang, the GT3 has bespoke short-and-long-arm suspension. The engine runs on a rear-mounted transaxle transmission.
Long-time Ford partner Multimatic will manufacture and support the Mustang GT3. The company also produced the latest GT for the automaker.
"Ford is no longer against Ferrari. Ford is against everyone. Returning to Le Mans is just the beginning of building a global motorsport business with the Mustang, just as we did with the Bronco and Raptor off-road," said Ford CEO Jim. .
Proton Competition was the first team to commit to purchase the Mustang GT3. The team will compete with a pair in the 2024 World Endurance Championship season, which will include the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
Ford Performance, together with its partner Multimatic Motorsports, will race two Mustang GT3s in the IMSA GTD Pro class. This includes races on the 2024 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
In a teaser for the March 2023 Mustang GT3, Farley tweeted: "Should we make a road version?" This has sparked speculation that the company is working on just such a tool. Presumably, he would adapt some parts from the racer to the road.
The 2024 Ford Mustang will begin deliveries in the US before the end of the year. Prices start at $32,515. A Dark Horse with every option and accessory is $79,515.
