What’s on in Glasgow: May to June guide

Gaia launched at Mackintosh Queens Cross on 13 May and will remain open for public display until the end of June.

Luke Jerram’s six metre sculpture of earth is presented by the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society inside the architects only built church.

The artworks includes detailed NASA imagery of the planet’s surface, and allows the opportunity to see a three dimensional floating earth lit internally.

It is quite the site to see.

Next, the biggest celebration to date showcasing the work and life of revolutionary fashion designer Dame Mary Quant is set to open at Kelvingrove Art Gallery on 20 May.

The exhibition will feature over 100 garments, accessories, cosmetics and photographs landed from the V&A’s extensive collection, Dame Mary Quant’s archive, a public appeal, and private collections.

The event was organised by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and opens just a month following the subject’s death.

And finally, Glasgow’s very own Lewis Capaldi is set to play an intimate hometown show in the city’s O2 Academy in aid of the release of his latest album.

The event will take place on 7 June to an audience of just 900, which has been dubbed particularly rare as the singer is currently in the middle of a sold out world wide tour.
