The Trial By Judge Alone bill has been referred to a Special Select Committee of the Senate.
This, after the Attorney General sought to assure Opposition and Independent Senators of an amendment to the bill preserving the right of an accused to be tried by a Judge and jury once the Judge is satisfied that the accused has proper legal advice.
