Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth appeared confused when asked if he suffers from “white guilt”.
The shadow work and pensions secretary was speaking on TalkTV when Julia Hartley-Brewer asked: “Do you suffer from white guilt?”
“Do I suffer from what?” Mr Ashworth replied before he was quizzed on his response to Suella Braverman’s suggestion that Britons shouldn’t be “ashamed” of “historic slavery”.
“I love this country, I’m not ashamed of this country... we should teach all aspects of the history of this country,” he added.
