Birmingham headlines 24 April: Teenager charged with murder of Kelvin Ward in Castle Bromwich
West Midlands Police has charged a 16-year-old boy and a 28 year old man named Leighton Williams over the murder of Kelvin Ward in Castle Bromwich. Both have been charged with murder and have been remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court.
Officers responding to reports of disorder in which a shop worker was attacked with a hammer have arrested a man. The attack happened on Villa Road, Handsworth. A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with injuries, which are not life-threatening.
A pregnant mum has shared a heartfelt message for the two West Midlands Ambulance paramedics who saved her and her baby's life. Pavandeep lost more than two litres of blood after suffering a placental abruption at home in Erdington. Paramedics Alex Gilmore and Gracie Clarke attended the 999 call. The mother and baby have since recovered.
