Construction work at Long Thanh airport, which will be Vietnam’s newest and largest air hub, has been blanketing surrounding neighbourhoods with a thick layer of red dust for months. The windblown particles are disrupting the lives of residents living as far as 10km (6.2 miles) from the site, prompting fears for their health. Contractors have deployed trucks to dampen the ground in a bid to ease the dust but to no avail, as the site is simply too big.
