Wales headlines 27 March: Millions ‘wasted’ by Welsh government

Over 155 million pounds worth of public money has been lost between 2020 and 2021 due to poor accounting by the Welsh Government according to a Senedd committee. There has been particular concern over the level of fraud and errors in the covid-19 business grants scheme.

Wales started their Euro 2024 campaign off with a strong performance against Croatia to earn a draw away to the World Cup semi finalists. Wales looked second best for long spells, but a 93rd minute equaliser for debutant Nathan Broadhead earned Rob Page’s men a point. Wales now take on Latvia at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night.

Wrexham and Connah’s Quay set a Welsh record in womens football on Sunday as they played infront of a crowd of over 9500 people at the Racecourse ground. Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds and his wife, actor Blake Lively were among those in the stand to watch the home side win 2-1.
