I've seen clouds roll over mountains in Austria and it has something to do with what they called heavy pressure. It's amazing and does look like a snow avalanche but it's just cloud coming up and over from the other side from the south and the east wind (pressure) meets it and fills the whole low lying valley. Coming over it has a waterfall effect. I've got pics.
