Stunning footage shows homes in Canada covered with icicles after Storm Elliot hit - killing at least 56 people in North America. Lakeside homes in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada, were draped with vertical icicles on top of already thick facades of ice on December 28. The ice formed after high-speed winds sent water from Lake Erie across the lakefront, crystalising once it touched the buildings. The person filming the footage described it as "absolutely just straight ice" as he pans across various homes damaged by the now-weathered ice, compounded by the ongoing cold snap. One local energy supplier in the Niagara region claimed at least 15,000 homes were left without power. Some 38 people died in Buffalo, New York, while at least 56 have died across a total of eight states, it was reported.
