Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder over the nightclub death of Cody Fisher. The non-league footballer, 23, was fatally stabbed on the dancefloor of the Crane in Birmingham on Boxing Day. Police said today (28/12) that a 22-year-old man was arrested at an address in the city just after midnight. A second man, aged 21, was arrested in London. DCI Ian Ingram, of West Midlands Police, said: “We’re making good progress in our investigation and are building a better picture of what happened." Police were called to the nightclub in the Digbeth area at around 11:45pm on Boxing Day to reports that a man had been stabbed. Cody was pronounced dead 30 minutes later. His family spoke yesterday (27/12) of their devastation. A statement said: "They have broken our hearts; I have lost my best friend. "My family and I are asking for privacy and respectfulness at this heart-breaking time." A picture of Cody issued by police showed him wearing a Bromsgrove Sporting FC top. The club tweeted: "All of us at Bromsgrove Sporting Football Club are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Cody Fisher. "Cody, was a friend to many at the club and we send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones." A dedicated web page has been set up where people can send information, photos and videos that could help the murder probe. DCI Ingram added: "We’ve been really pleased with the response from the public and have already had a number of witness accounts and images sent through, which will help with our investigation. “It’s vital that we hear from everybody who saw any part of what happened that night – no matter how insignificant they think it might be. “Cody’s family and friends are devastated by what happened, and we’ll continue to work to bring them answers.”
