It’s exactly one year since the floods of December 2021 left more than 50 dead, displaced over 400,000 people, and resulted in financial losses of RM6.1 billion. The northeast monsoon, this year coupled with the La Nina cycle, has brought heavy rains in the past few weeks, heightening the risk of flooding and landslides like the deadly tragedy at the campsite near Batang Kali in Selangor.
